Has Anyone Used Baking Soda To Freshen Their Carpet?

I have an 8 month old baby and would like to freshen the carpet in my home without using harsh chemicals. My baby is crawling around now so that is the main reason I will not use carpet powder. If anyone has sprinkled baking soda on their carpets for this purpose please give me feedback before I try it. Thank you in advance!

I used to sell vacuums and the “baking soda test” was a killer of all vacuums. Baking soda and carpet powder clog the bag/filter in your vacuum in about 10 seconds, so unless you change the bag/filter every 10 seconds, almost all of what you sprinkle stays in the carpet. It looks like it’s gone, but that’s just because the rotating brushes on the vacuum have beat the powder down into the carpet fibers.

use baking soda and add some tea tree oil to it in a shaker thing i would say about 6 to 8 drops or so and this will also kill bacteria!!

this is good and also natural….try this….before you and the tot leave the home for errands or whatnot…sprinkle down and allow to soak up unpleasant odors….vacuum when you come back in or when you lay the tot down for his nap…..baking soda does tons of things around the home

Leave it on your carpets overnight so it has time to soak up all the smell (which is all baking soda will do). The powder can clog up your vacuum but it isn’t going to ruin it with one run, just make sure you empty it and clean the filters afterwards. And even if the vacuum doesn’t get it all up, it isn’t going to hurt your baby.

Yes it works very well! It helps keep the house smelling fresh, and I have several pets in the house as well! I have not encountered any of the problems mentioned about the vacuums getting plugged, but I use a bag-less vacuum. I purchased it at Walmart for less than $70 over a year ago.

Works good in refrigerators and cat boxes as well.
