I have two dogs, so I definiatly know what your going through! Plain old vinegar!. Add about a cup per gallon, and It will get rid of odors.The vinegar smell will do away after the carpet dries. You can add a bit of lemon scented pine-sol to boost your cleaning results.

Carpets/Upholstery:
1) A great non-toxic carpet stain remover is club soda. Soak spot immediately with soda and blot until the stain is gone.
2) Pet Urine on Carpets: Dab area with toweling to absorb as much as possible, wash spot with liquid dish detergent, and rinse with 1/2 cup vinegar diluted in 1 qt warm water. Lay towels or paper towels over the spot and weight down to absorb excess moisture. Let stand 4 to 6 hours, then remove toweling, brush up nap and allow to dry completely. Use an electric fan to speed drying.
3) Red wine stains can be removed from carpet by rubbing baking soda in and vacuuming.
4) Sprinkle cornstarch onto carpet, vacuum.
5) To remove grease spots from carpets, first sop up the liquid with a sponge, then rub a liberal amount of baking soda into the spot. Let it absorb overnight. Next day, remove the excess and vacuum the area.
6) To remove grease spots from carpets, first absorb excess with a sponge, then rub a liberal amount of corn starch into the spot. Let sit overnight, then vacuum.
7) Dry cornstarch sprinkled on rug and vacuumed.
Carpet Fresher
4 cups baking soda or cornstarch
35 drops Eucalyptus essential oil
30 drops Lavender essential oil
25 drops Rosewood essential oil
or any combination of your favorite essentail oils
Measure 4 cups of baking soda into a bowl, add essential oils. Break up any clumps that form, stir until well mixed. Before vacuuming sprinkle powder from a shaker type can or jar. Let it sit on the carpet for about 15 minutes then vacuum.
9) Herbal Carpet Freshener
1 cup baking soda, 1/2 cup lavender flowers
Crush the lavender flowers to release their scent. Mix well with baking soda and sprinkle liberally on carpets. Vacuum after 30 minutes.
10) Sprinkle baking soda on carpets before vacuuming for a natural rug deodorizer

For just a few spots
Nature’s Miracle should work. It is available at Petsmart. Make sure you follow the direction. The main reason that it fails is that people just sprays it on and wipe it up and not let it soak into the carpet and pad like the urine did. You may need to do this 2 or 3 time. Just reminder that the urine treatment product needs to go where the urine went for it to work properly. After you clean the spots, you should shampoo the carpet using this product

For really bad urine smell
First thing you need to know is that urine is classified as carpet damage. 90 % of the urine sits in the under pad and that is the hardest to remove. This is the reason you smell it when you wet it. In most cases if you can smell it it’s pass the point of treating from the surface. To clean it properly it is a fairly big job
Things you will need: carpet-cleaning machine.
Chemical for removing urine I recommend (Nature’s Miracle is a liquid containing enzymes that feed on the organisms that give urine its odours.), which you can buy at a pet store. (Some people have use vinegar (one part vinegar to five parts water)
New under pad for the carpet
1/ lift the carpet where you think the urine is. You can tell from the bottom side of the carpet by the watermarks. You will need to extract the backside of the carpet with the urine remove treatment product.
2/ cut out the entire infected under pad and wash the floor with the urine treatment.
3/replace the under pad with the new stuff
4/ as you are laying the carpet back down treat the top of the carpet with the urine treatment.
5/ When the carpet is all back you will need to clean the all of the carpet with the urine treatment product. Just reminder that the urine treatment product needs to go where the urine went for it to work properly.

THE PROBLEM MAY NOT BE THER CARPET THE “SMELL” MAY HAVE LEAKED THROUGHT THE CARPET AND IT IN THE WOOD BELOW, WIL REPEATED “MESSES” YOU MAY HAVE TO RIP UP THE CARPET BUT FOR NOW TRY..NATURES MIRACLE AT THE PET STORE MIX WITH WATER AND RENT A CARPET STEAM CLEANER

pine-sol and laundry detergent works really good on my carpets my grandma told me this and I have never used anything but this it really works!! Tell me if u try it! Pluse the pine-sol will take the oder a way.
