Hot water with something like lemon or white vinegar to break up the grease then shampoo to get the smell out if using vinegar.
Mop up the worst of it, set the iron at a low heat and place grease proof paper/kitchen roll over the carpet before gently ironing over it to try and lift the grease out onto the paper!!!
    Good Luck!

Maybe try some Simple Green first. If it doesn’t work try a product called Super Clean its an all purpose cleaner and degreaser. Just read directions before using the Super Clean and when you apply the product to the carpet use a circular scrubbing motion.

One time I had a bad rash on my crotch so I used sudocream.

OMG! Just looked up what it is and I cant imagine getting that out of the carpet.
    Dont you just love kids?
I would put paper towels down or a flannelette nappy and see if it can soak up the majority of the mess.
Just realised you have already tried washing it.
Just keep washing. Mild detergent, warm water & plenty of towels & cloths.
The zinc is going to be the problem/
You didnt say what the carpet was made from.
