How Do I Stop My Dog From Scratching Up The Carpet?
I have a boxer dog that for some reason beyond me, scratches the carpet really fast in one spot only. She does it a lot and it is starting to ruin the carpet. how do I stop her from doing this? I tell her no, tap her nose, and pull her away to stop, but she will go right back over and do it again. What do I do to stop her from messing my carpet up?

theres also this thing called something like a bitter apple spray… if you spray it on the carpet it’ll leave that scent dogs really dont like and they’ll stop scratching your carpet.

You did not include the dog’s age. You should talk to the vet about this, just give doc a call. There could be a smell there that is very offensive to the dog, try to steam clean it and use some white vinegar, with water mixed, other wise the acidity will discolor the carpet. Don’t hit that nose, it is the most sensitive part of the dog, give the dog a sharp no! and point to the carpet and let the dog know how displeased you are with it for this, but do this while catching it in the act. Take the dog out and let it release it’s energy outside so it won’t be so hyper inside. I hope this bad habit will change. There are good dog training books out there, find one for your breed. Don’t forget to call the vet for info first so you can get a heads up on why this is happening and stop that quickly. I bet it is a smell that you can’t smell. Good Luck to you.

Have it scratch the neighbors carpet

Was that area previously soiled?
Does your dog get enough exercise?
Where is that spot in relation to her food bowl or toy basket?
There are a lot of variables as to why, and a lot of ways to get her to stop. To start with, Answer these questions and then go see your vet. We know something about behavior too.

You apparently have something that is atracting her to that spot. First, try cleaning the area well with a steam cleaner. If she goes back to the same spot, there is a spray on the market that you can spray that area of the carpet, that will repell her from the area. You won’t be able to smell it, but she will. Also, a squirt gun works wonders. When you catch her scratching, tell her NO firmly, and squirt her several times in the face with the squirt gun or bottle. That usually stops it REAL fast.

Use Bitter Apple for this problem, squirt 1 to 2 shots if it in the back of the dogs mouth and then on the carpet area…repeat if necessary, always tell her NO DIGGING, when you do this to her…Hopefully she’ll stop soon…
Good Luck…
