How Often Should A Carpet Be Replaced In A Standard 3-bedroom House?
If you can help me, then I can make my decision on whether to get new carpet throughout the house.

That depends on a lot of things. The traffic in the house, pets, and the quality of carpet in the home. Vaccuming weekly is the single most important thing you can do to extend the life of your carpet.
Most nylon carpet (which makes up the majority of residential carpeting) will fade over time, especially the areas exposed to sun.
A carpet with a lesser ounce weight will need to be replaced more frequently than one with a higher ounce weight.
Good quality carpet that is well maintained in a home with no pets can last decades.
A lesser carpet that is not taken care of and exposed to pet dander will wear out quickly (5 years).

It really depends on the quality of the carpets that are down because you could get someone to shampoo them and this would bring up the pile and they would look good or if they are cheap and are beyond saving well get new it is really down to personal choice .

If it’s dirty and you can’t clean it with a wet vac or through a company that cleans carpets then you should replace it. If it’s still cleanable don’t b/c that’ll be a waste of money unless you want new carpets.

I think after every 4 years you should change the carpet specially if you have pets and little kids who have the tendency to dirty it.
