What Is The Best Way To Lighten Carpet?
My carpet is extremely dirty. I know about a vacuum, yes. There is something called the carpet doctor and it works very well but it is quite expensive to rent. I was wondering if there is something inexpensive than will do a good job.

There is a similar product out now like Ed was recommending and its called Capture. A 1 gallon pail costs in the ballpark of 25$ so i don t know if its cheaper or not..Most rental units don t get the deep down extraction needed to get the water out that they put in to carpet thus leaving the carpet prone to restaining since old cleaners are not gotten out of carpet and actually attract dirt. I don’t know if it is still available, I haven’t seen it in a very long time, but there was this product called ‘Glamorene.” It was some kind of cleaning agent mixed with something like sawdust and came in a gallon jar. You sprinkled it on the carpet then broomed it around, then vaccuumed it up. It worked well on non textured carpet. I wonder if anyone else remembers this stuff?
