How To Clean Carpet That Soaked With Liquid Laundry Detergent?
My son decided to pour the entire jug of DREFT (baby laundry detergent) on my living room carpet. What is the best way to clean the carpet? Should I keep pouring the water on it and vacuum it until all the detergent is gone? How long would that take? Or should I call carpet cleaner professional instead…

Hi
I would recommend using a wet vac and slowly pour hot water (almost to the boiling point) on the spot and vacuum it up at the same time (this will open up the dye ports on the carpet fibre releasing the soap and remove the residue from the carpet). The stain may come back in a few days so you may have to do this a few times. Please DO NOT put anything on the carpet that was not made for carpet. At this point if the stain is still there please call a carpet cleaner.

Good going pro. You never want to saturate the carpeting!! First it may never dry, only mold or else the mat underneath may mold. Then you have to think if there is wood underneath. Too much water will ruin the wood.

IF YOU HAVE A WET VAC, YOU CAN KEEP POURING AND SUCKING IT UP,IT WILL EVENTUALLY COME OUT, A PRO COULD DO IT PROBABLY IN 1 VISIT.

Either hire someone, or use a carpet shampoo-er (which soaks the carpet with water, while simultaneously vacuuming up the soapy water). Of course, there is no need to put the shampoo in the machine, since your carpet is already lathered!

You don’t say if its contained in one large area or all over the carpet.
If it is contained in one large area, remove as much detergent as possible. Large towels will soak up a lot of the detergent. Remove as much detergent as possible, then use the wet vac or carpet cleaner.
If its spilled over most of the carpet, you may want to find a professional carpet cleaner that has a “truck mount” unit. This is a larger more powerful piece of carpet cleaning equipment.
