A chair has been in the same place for years and has made a dent in the carpet that will not go…How do I put this right?

    Hi Martin
I believe water works well. an ice cube or whatever you choose. rub it on the area then ruffle up the carpet!
Good luck – it may take a while but it’ll go eventually!

Put an icecube on the area and let it melt. Once melted ‘buff’ the pile of the carpet up. It may take a few gos but it will eventually work.

Apparently rubbing the area with an ice cube does the trick. Havent tried it myself but have heard from lots of people that it works

dampen the carpet then rough it up with a brush or even your fingers . .

Put an ice cube in a baggie and set it over the dent.
Brush it very hard until the nap raises.
Or you can try using your steam iron to raise the nap by holding the steam over the dent and brushing the nap.

Wet a washcloth with a warm water/fabric softener solution.
Squeeze it out but leave it fairly wet. Lay it on the dent and leave it for a few hours. When you remove it you should be able to fluff it up with your hand.
You just want the carpet strands wet and softened so they will pop back up. Good Luck.

I have used the ice cube method and it worked. Put ice cube(s) on the dent and let it melt. Blot up the water. let dry thoroughly and then vacuum.

Don’t hold me to it but I have tried with success a steam iron with a stem jet function held just off the carpet. Just give it a rub after to raise the pile.

fill a spray bottle with water and spritz it over the dents. Then use a blow-dryer, on the hottest setting, to blow air over any moistened areas. (The heat helps wool and nylon carpet rebound.) Fluff up fibers with your fingers.
My personal favorite is to put an ice cube in each indentation, and let cubes slowly melt. Wait 12 hours, blot up wet spots, then use the edge of a spoon to lift carpet fibers back up. Or steam away dents: Place a clean, damp cloth over them and hold an iron, on medium heat, several inches above the cloth for about 30 to 60 seconds. Don’t let the iron touch the carpet — it could burn! Brush up fibers with a coin.
Or get laminate floor and if you ever decide to move furniture again it wont matter!

Push the dent out from the other side of the carpet.

Put ice cubes on the dent overnight and in the morning the dent should be completely gone.(let the ice cubes regenerate the fabric).

I saw this on TV, put an ice cube in the dent then cover with a cloth and iron it out, I hope this works for you
