How Can You Tell If A Carpet Is Of Good Quality And A Good Choice?

I have a traditional/cottage style home (very comfy and cozy) and light tone wood floors throughout except for the bedrooms, which are carpeted. I am looking for a quality carpet just for the bedrooms with style and cozy comfort, but at a reasonable price. Any ideas? Brands, types, etc.? Thank you so much!!!! We have neutrals and soft greens as wall colors throughout.

depends on how comfortable you want, berbers hold up better for the price but still have a bit of a harsh feel (not my prefernce for comfy), plushes are costly for the best quality that will hold up well. You might try a medium to low pile textured carpet that has a tightly wound pile, for the price they offer the most comfort at the best quality . or maybe a cut and pile maybe another option- if you dont mind the patterns they do hold up well and have a soft feel, although not that thick theres alot availble at a good price and you can always(and should) use a upgraded pad to add the cozy feel. basicly you should be able to buy a comfy and durable carpet in a variety of colors for around $4 -$6 per sq ft (installed with minimal pad for that price). Although theres alot availble at a lower price- you will sacrafice the comfort or durability,
when you comparison shop- look at the ratings on the back of the samples, compare the face weight of the carpet- where the heavier the better, and more importantly the durability ratings(a thin carpet never has a good rating)! also make sure whatever you decide on holds a competive warranty of over 10 years. althought the warranties are often not honored as consumers would hope- the longer the warranty usually means the better the product. shaw and mohawk 2 companies i had good luck with, im sure theres alot more.
