When I Cleaned My Carpet, My Brown Leather Couches Leaked On The White Carpet. How Do I Remove These Stains?

The carpet cleaning company didn’t use any protection for the furniture they couldn’t move. Therefore, dye from the brown leather couches leaked onto the white carpet. How can I remove these stains?

This is dye. You can try moving the furniture out of the way and bleaching the affected areas. But I don’t think it’s going to work, without also ruining your carpet.
There are two alternatives…you could either place an area rug under the couch that would cover these spots (and incidentally help protect the carpet in those high traffic areas at the front of couches). Or you could get your carpet company in to remove the dyed areas and replace with pieces of matching carpet.
Although they could do a fantastic job matching your existing carpet, it would still be missing the wear of the other carpeting around it. So if you decide to go this route, I would stick to the smallest possible pieces as replacement. It would be best of all if you have remnants of your carpet stored somewhere in your house. Have the professional use this to replace the cut out bits, and hot tape the replacements in place. If done properly, you won’t notice the mend.

It’s called color transfer and there’s not much you can do other than trying to bleach it out with chlorine type bleaches or non-chlorine bleaches. If all else fails,, do a cut and plug. Use carpet from under the sofa to use for the plugs. There are tutorials on DIYnetwork on how to do this technique.
    Good luck!

    Hi
It’s called colour transfer and there’s not much you can do as a homeowner. The carpet cleaning company should be called back to remove this stain from the carpet. There is a product that the company should have or get for removing foreign dyes from carpet. If they cannot help you then I would recommend calling a different company.
