Do You Walk On Your Carpet With Shoes, Socks Or Bare Feet?

I was recently told that walking on carpet barefooted can actualy make your carpet dirtier faster because the oils from your feet makes the dirt stick to the carpet or somthing like that. anybody heard of this?

I prefer bare feet, unfortunately not everyone listens which makes it pointless to walk barefoot and get all those germs on your feet that everyone with shoes left behind. It would make sense though about oils from your feet getting on the carpet. But I dont think it would make that big of a difference.

Socks, slippers, or bare feet. No shoes on the carpet.

Yes, That is true. I do not let any one walk barefoot in my house. Sox, flip flops, house slippers, whatever. No bare feet!

Know first the purpose why is it carpeted, then when you know you’ll get the answer as well.

The carpet cleaners told me that bare feet do make your carpet dirtier because of the oils. The best way to keep your carpet clean is to take your shoes off at the door and walk around in your socks. That’s what I do all the time.
I stay in socked feet, but I allow guests to go barefoot if they wish. As long as they take off their shoes, I don’t care whether they are in socks or not.

You can always wipe your feet on a outdoor mat before walking on the carpet. That way the carpet should not soil wether you have shoes on socks on or bare feet. All the best.

    bare foot and with booties,
The oils from our feet may have an effect on the carpet but you want to know what is worse?
carpet shampoo makes the carpet clean and smell good but if the soap is left which it is to some extend the dry ed soap on damp days turns sticky and everything sticks to it and your dirt appears to be right back.
I do a vinegar and water rinse to get more soap out of the rugs.

I’m always barefoot. I have heard people say this but only a handful of times; I’ve heard of more people who go barefoot indoors to keep the carpet clean.
I’ve never really investigated which of the above is best, I don’t really care, I go barefoot for comfort but I don’t have any rules against visitors keeping their shoes on if they like. I think a house is meant to be lived in, and carpets can be cleaned, that’s what the vacuum cleaner is for. I keep my house and everything in it pretty nice, but walking around in whatever feels most comfortable is a normal part of wear-and-tear. I’d never want to live in a house with a white carpet that needs to be kept looking like new at the cost of the comfort of the folks living there!

I have heard of this too, I walk around in bare feet at home because we have a no shoes rule in the house and I don’t walking around in just socks, better to take them off and free my feet of their confines, it feels better too. Our carpets have never been noticeably dirty though unless someone has just been walking through mud.
