How Do You Remove Wax From Carpet?

I spilled some wax from a burning candle on my indoor/outdoor carpet. The wax dried and left a cloudy white reisdue. I’ve tried to scrape it off, but it’s not working very well. Any suggestions? Thanks!

1.Put ice cubes in a plastic bag and cover the wax until it hardens.
2.Gently scrape the excess using a spatula or a spoon.
3.Set your iron on low heat (you can also use a hairdryer). Place a brown paper bag without any writing or designs (the ink may transfer to the carpet) over the stain. Press the iron on the bag for no longer than a couple of seconds. Keep iron heat low so carpet fibers don’t get scorched.
4.Repeat and replace the bag as necessary until the wax no longer transfers to the paper when heated.
these next steps are for colored wax only:
It should be noted that if the wax is colored, it may stain your carpet. Anytime you apply heat to a stain, it causes the stain to lock into the fibers leaving you with a permanent reminder of the accident. It’s for this reason you should use a warm iron only. You also don’t want to use newspaper or any kind of paper with words or pictures on it unless you want the image to be transferred to your carpet.
If you’re left with a stain once the wax is removed, you’ll have to contend with that as well. Hopefully, it won’t be difficult to remove. A carpet spot cleaner is your best bet; just follow the instructions on the back of the label. If none of this is handy, you can try one of several cleaning agents;* Mild laundry detergent * Mild dishwashing liquid * Stain remover for clothing * Vinegar
Best of luck & Happy Cleaning!

What I did was hold a warm iron over the spot on top of a pressing cloth or diaper. It will remove some of the wax. Hope this helps, and keep the iron dry and slightly warm.

Scrape as much off as you can, then, put a paper towel over it and iron it on low. You’ll see the was absorb into the paper towel. It may take a while, and a bunch of paper towels, but it will get up all the wax out of your carpet.

This is a most common thing as we are all into candles these days, freezing with a ice pack or ice cubes has helped me in the past , just scrape gentle with a blunt edge instrument,(never with a knife,) as it breaks away you can vaccum. It’s not really the wax is the problem , if you had colored candles, and left a stain, after removing the wax, treat it with stain removal or get a professional to clean your carpet as soon as possible. Hope this will work for you!

Try to use an iron over some paper towels, it should release it from your carpet. Good luck

It takes a little time & effort, but the best results I’ve had come from using brown paper bags, or mailing paper (it’s thicker & more porras than like typing paper, therefore best, but typing can be used for lack of the other), Get a hot (medium setting) iron, lay the paper on the wax, and run the iron over it, soaking it into the paper. Don’t get it too hot, and depending on the size of the spill, it can take quite a bit of paper to soak it all up, but done properly, this is the best method I’ve ever come used. Good Luck
