What Is The Best Way To Lay Carpet Around Poles In Basement?

We are finishing our basement and plan on putting berber carpet down there. My husband and some friends are going to lay it themselves, but what is the best way to lay it around the basement poles??? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

I’m assuming you’re going to put carpet around your steel load bearing columns, or lally columns in your basement.
If you are going for carpet covering, I would use just a simple peel and stick self adhesive carpet. But I don’t think it would look very nice.
Link provided shows a different application for covering lally columns

I’d measure the circumference as closely as possible with a tape measure.
Then trace a circle on the carpet and cut it so that half the circle is cut out at the edge of a section of the carpet.
Then put the two sections together surrounding the pole.

If the pole is already in there, it’s too late. Only way to do it would be to dig under the pole, make a circle cut in the carpet, and lift it under it.

if it is not too much trouble, I would cut around the poles, then make a wooden box to cover the poles, thus covering any imperfections
