How Can You Secure A Bookshelf From Leaning Forward On A Carpet Without Connecting It To A Wall?
The bookshelf is on carpet and there is no way to remove the carpet. I don’t want it to lean forward when I put the books on it.

Tilt it back and insert shims in the front.

You could get small L brackets and place them on the backside of the shelf and screw it securely into the floor.

You can use shims to level the bookshelf back towards the wall. Most anything will work as a shim. Carpenters use scrap pieces of wood for this purpose, although you can use folded up cardboard for the same results. Place the shims under the front of the bookcase until you get it level.

Board on carpet & possible wedges under board at the front. Then put shelf on that. Heaviest stuff on bottom to secure. Could always have short, heavy furniture placed in front.

how high is your ceiling? how far is it from the top of the bookshelf?
not saying suspend the bookshelf. for some reason, you don’t want the bookshelf attached sideways (i.e., to the wall). then again, there has to be another section of the shelf that will support the weight of the books that are put in it apart from the bottom that goes directly atop the floor. so, maybe connecting it to the ceiling is something you may need to look into.

you have to put your heavy books at the bottom of the bookshelf and put the light ones on top.
