Bleach is the best thing, but it can cause the obvious problems!!! Look for some of the products online in the pet supply catalogs that say it kills the Parvo virus. They can be added to carpet cleaners, or sprayed on the carpet and left to dry. If the dog went outside and eliminated, that area is contaminated also. The best thing is also to wait for 6 months at least before bringing another puppy into the house. And make sure it had a first vaccine before you bring it home and keep it current on the rest of the vaccine series.

I am so sorry for your loss, losing a pet is never easy.
The only thing that I can recommend is that your phone your vets office and ask them what they would recommend as an effective cleaner for your carpeting, they may be able to give you the answer you need.

your carpet isnt the only thing infected your whole house and yard needs to be treated. when my dog got parvo we ended up replacing everything in the house and moving(we rented) cause theres just no way to get it out of the yard.wut ever you do dont get a new dog for 6mos or they will get infected to. im sorry for your loss fortunatly we got my dogs symptoms in time and were able to save her it just cost us alot of money.

Bleach is the only thing effective for killing parvovirus. You should seriously consider pulling up the carpet and replacing it. Parvo is a very contagious disease to other dogs, and it can live without a host animal for quite a while.

you have to use bleach it is the only thing that will kill parvo, it is very contagious and a dog can catch it by even stepping on a stain. I have worked as a vet assistant for a couple years.

oh, I’m sorry for your carpet! lol. well, first, clean it up as much as you can with an old towel or something, and after, find out if some types of carpet cleaners are good with dog stuff, or parvo. (um, I’m not sure what parvo is, can you tell me by contacting me? thanks) uh, I guess like oxi clean! find out if any of those well known brands of carpet cleaner are any good for dog parvo.

Bleach is pretty much the only thing that will kill Parvo. However, the virus can live without a host for up to a year. If you want to save your carpet, you could use a mild detergent and WAIT the time period before you bring another puppy into the house. Or if your in the market right away for another plan on bleaching or getting new carpet.
If you do get another pup within the next year make sure it is FULLY vacinated, and updated when necessary. Which will also prevent it from getting Parvo.
