Tehran Iran by Asiatravel.com

Tehran (Persian: تهران Tehrān, pronounced [tʰehˈɾɒn][3]) is the capital and largest city of Iran, and the administrative center of Tehran Province. Tehran is a sprawling city at the foot of the Tochal mountain range with an immense network of highways unparalleled in Western Asia. The city is famous for its numerous resorts on the Alborz slopes, large museums, art centers, and palace complexes. Tehran is the largest city in the Middle East and is the 16th most populated city in the world with a population of around 7800000 people. Most Iranian industries are headquartered in Tehran, including the manufacturing of automobiles, electrical equipment, military weaponry, textiles, sugar, cement, and chemical products. Tehran is also a leading center for the sale of carpets and furniture. There is an oil refinery located south of the city.[4] In the 20th century, Tehran faced a large migration of people from all around Iran. Today, the city contains various religious minorities, and has many historic mosques, churches, synagogues and Zoroastrian fire temples. Contemporary Tehran is a modern and expensive city featuring many skyscrapers, of which the Azadi Tower and the Milad Tower have come to be symbols of Tehran itself. Tehran’s climate is largely defined by its geographic location, with the towering Alborz Mountains to its North and the central desert to the South. It can be generally described as mild in the spring, hot and dry in the summer, pleasant in the autumn, and

Hike to the Hollywood Sign (with directions on how to do it)

a hike up Mt. Lee to the Hollywood Sign in Los Angeles, with curious discoveries along the way. Burbank burns in the background, and a wild chicken is chased at the end. *****UPDATE***** I have gotten a few messages from people interested in doing this hike, so I have decided to paste the directions below. Remember, the hike is legal, but going under the fence to touch the sign itself is illegal, so please do so only at your own risk! At 1680 feet above sea level, the summit of Mount Lee perches high above the Los Angeles Basin on the western edge of spacious Griffith Park. In addition to hosting the iconic Hollywood sign, the summit area offers one of the most stupendous views of the Southlands real estate — carpets of houses, shopping centers, industrial buildings, and office towers that roll out miles and miles toward distant snow-capped peaks and the blue Pacific Ocean. Mount Lees summit, although largely occupied by a fenced-off antenna installation, can be reached from below by self-propelled means — typically, walking and mountain biking. A great place to begin is the Hollyridge Trail, which starts just shy of the Sunset Ranch Stables at the north end of Beachwood Drive in the Hollywood Hills. Beachwood Drive runs north from Franklin Avenue, which itself is accessible from the Hollywood (101) Freeway in Hollywood, or from Interstate 5 via Los Feliz Boulevard. A small dirt parking area just below the stables has room for only a few cars. Theres more space for

Away We Go Red-Carpet Premiere with Matt Zaller: …

National Lampoon’s Matt Zaller swooped in on the red-carpet premiere of the new film by Sam Mendes (written by David Eggers) to do some investigative journalism. In the hopes of scooping some big scoops, as it were, National Lampoon’s The Zaz Report digs deep into the coffers of journalistic integrity and prowess to unfold yet another page of the great book of celebrity interviewing. Scoops obtained here include: the truth of the universe, John Krasinski’s top 5 movies, Jeff Daniels was not considered for Uncle Joey, Jim Gaffigan uses his voice a lot, John Hodgman carries a murse, and Kate Winslet does not stop on red-carpets for Matt. Some great footage here people. Please enjoy. Also, Away We Go, from what we’ve heard, is a solid movie.
