This means that there are gaps at the bottom of the baseboards that allow the air to circulate. However, the air that circulates escapes through these gaps and the dust left behind mark trails on the carpet. In this case, do you know how to deal with it? Well, you should not panic because you can get rid of the dust trails in the carpet easily.
All you have to do is to have cedar paper, flexible sealants, flexible tape, a carpet knife and other carpet cleaning tools. You can follow this step-by-step guide to clean the dark carpet stains on the baseboards.
Pull back the carpet from the skirting boards. You can peel and cut off the floor by using the carpet knife. Make sure that you have enough space to work with so that you can avoid damaging the carpet any further.
Clean the area exposed from dirt and dust. You can scrub the baseboard with water and soap if necessary and suction the dust trapped in between the gaps. Vacuuming the surrounding area would help to get the dust out of the carpet.
After you have cleaned out and let the area dry, it is now the time to put the sealant in the gaps and let it dry. However, you should ensure that the gaps are airtight by pushing the cedar paper underneath the baseboards and put a flexible tape.
Remove the dust. You can remove the dust mark completely by removing and replacing the carpet underlay. After you have placed the carpet underlay, smooth the carpet from the place you began your task.
Clean the carpet. To ensure that you completely clean the dust, using heavy-duty carpet cleaner is a must. On the other hand, if you do not have any experience with carpet cleaning you can seek the service of a professional carpet cleaning company. In this way, you can ensure that no further damage will happen to your carpet.
Aside from the above cited guide, you can also ask professionals other options that you may have if you are experiencing this kind of carpet issue. You should not wait too long of a time before you take actions in getting rid the stains. Otherwise, it could ruin your expensive investment and it would be more costly to replace the carpet.

How Do You Paint Skirting Boards Without Getting Paint On The Carpet?
I can’t take the carpet up it’s securely pinned down. I tried a piece of board or masking tape and the paint still gets underneath. It’s a fluffy/bouncy carpet.
