How Do I Get My Roomate To Give Away Two Little Dogs That Have Used The Livingroom Carpet As A Bathroom?

I am an animal lover but these two need to find new homes! They have destroyed virtually every carpet in the house. It stinks in the house! My roomate refuses to buy new flooring.(I suggested laminate with area rugs if he kept these dogs. He can well afford it.)I told him they will not quit going since the scent in the carpet now makes them go. The odor cannot be removed, its that bad. It has been tried. He does not like the dogs that much. He is only hanging onto them because they belonged to his deceased wife who loved them and because he thinks he will eventually get visitation with his deceased wife’s 13 yr. old daughter who also loves them. (Her father will never allow a visitation and that is a guarantee since my roomate keeps telling the daughter her father is not a good person! He cant figure out why her father wont allow visitation either!) I cant move out right now. If I could afford new flooring, I would replace the floors immediately since this is so disgusting! Help!

I had to clean my new carpet. In doing so I belive I have removed any stain guard that was on it. I would like to put some kind of stain guard back on it now that it is clean.

I’m in California and am wondering what the protocol is for getting a property ready for another renter when the previous renter had a large inside dog. There are a few pet stains on the carpet which could probably be steam cleaned. However, I’ve heard that when you do that, you run the chance of bringing the stain to the surface and locking the odor into the carpet and padding. Therefore I’m curious if replacing the carpet is required or at least recommended. If so, should I only replace the obviously affected areas or should I replace it all?

I live in a downstairs apartment. In the bedroom by boyfriend (who is SO on my sh*t list right now) dropped a bottle of strawberry soda and it spilled EVERYWHERE. I mean, everywhere, walls carpet, my stuff….. It’s 2am. I am a clean freak and am going insane. I have a great carpet cleaner but I don’t want to wake the neighbors. We just had berber carpet put in all of the bedrooms, while the rest of the house is hardwood. We’ve been told not to use a vacuum with a “beater brush”. We are not looking to pay $400 for a Dyson (which is what keeps being recommended to us). I need something around $100 or less. What works? Need great suction, as we have kids AND pets!
