Hardwood doesn’t have to get replaced all the time like carpet can, but I noticed that when we walk on the upper unit it can be very loud for the lower unit. Would carpet make a big difference in how much sound would come from kids running around etc. in the upper unit for people living below?

Unfortunately there is butt ugly forest green carpet in the living area, hall, and bedrooms. I could probably deal with it in the bedrooms but my living room? Oh no. No way. Anybody have a good solution? I tried to pull it up; can’t really tell if there is anything under there. The landlord doesnt care what i do…as long as i pay for it…and no im not getting new carpet laid; It is a rental after all.
