LG VR5901KL RoboKing – spot
LG VR5901KL RoboKing. LG’s robots are the best for hard surfaces – on carpets it still get stuck. LG VR5901KL/VR5902KL (dual-eye – two cameras) and VR5906KL/VR5907KL (one-eye – one camera) was introduced at the end of 2009. Upper-range models has one camera for ceiling mapping – it makes a specific map of your house, so it know where it is and come back to the docking station much more quicker than other. Also, it has bottom camera for floor mapping. Lower-range models has only bottom camera. All four models are very quiet – only 50dB. It means that new LG’s series is about 13dB quieter than previous LG’s robots (VR5806KL and V-R4000). Consumption of energy by the robot is only 18Watts, while charger consumes 23W. The new version of the LG RoboKing is shorter, and comes at a height of 90 mm, compared to the previous model which has a height of 130 mm. The company claims that the new LG RoboKing is 30% more efficient, meaning it will sweep and vacuum the room 30% faster than the previous model. I think that the main advatage of this robot (except advanced camera-based mapping technology) are ultra-sound sensors. In comparison to the other robotic vacuum cleaners it doesn’t bump at all – even if it is near a clear, glass object, like eg glass. “Bumping” robots or robots with IR (infra-red) sensors bump into it, but ultra-sound don’t. Samsung Navibot – spot
Samsung has launched a robotic vacuum cleaner which maps the layout of a home for automatic cleaning – even when you’re out and about. The Navibot is powered by two CPU control chips, operating Samsung’s Visionary Mapping System, which lets the cleaner know where it is in the home at all times. The clever cleaner is fitted with a camera which takes 30 photos every second to help it identify the rooms. The 38 sensors allow it to negotiate obstacles, such as table legs and sofas, and prevent it from tumbling down stairs. If the Navibot is running low on power, it makes its own way back to the docking station and catches up on a couple of hours rest and recuperation before retracing its steps, and continues cleaning where it left off. Brushes on either side of the robot are designed to clean right to the edges of a room, and it rolls over surfaces such as thick rugs and carpets. The ultra-low robot can clean in difficult to reach areas, even with a stick cleaner, such as under the coffee table. There’s also an option to delay the start of a cleaning cycle, so you don’t even need to be at home while it does its work. Samsung Navibot is available in four versions: SR8855 (mirror blue), SR8850, SR8845 (silver) and SR8840 (blue). All techs specs are the same as in korean Samsung Tango, except collision sensors – it avoids obstacles and doesn’t bump into them – unlike in Tango (it bumps into obstacles all the time).
