There are a few pet stains on the carpet which could probably be steam cleaned. However, I’ve heard that when you do that, you run the chance of bringing the stain to the surface and locking the odor into the carpet and padding. Therefore I’m curious if replacing the carpet is required or at least recommended. If so, should I only replace the obviously affected areas or should I replace it all?

I was recently told that you could use pine-sol and it would pick up the stain and not rot your carpet, curious as to if anyone has tried this, and I am open for suggestions.

The light-yellow stains left by the furniture wood legs on the light cream-colored carpet have not faded a bit after all those products.
