Beijing wushu team performance in Liaoning Chaoyang

On july 12th 2008 I returned to my home town, Liaoning. I was really excited becuase it was my first time performing in my hometown with the Beijing wushu team. We performed at the opening celebration of a cross county auto race. The weather in my hometown was very strange. It was raining constantly. I think this may have been becuase of the earthquake in Sichuan. On the morning of our performance it was raining especially hard. Our performance venue was a stage outside. Even though it was raining we were told we still had to perform. For those of you who don’t know, Chaoyang is rich in buddhist culture. Roughly 15 minutes before the performance, as if a gift from buddha, the rain suddenly stopped! It was amazing. The stage was still very wet, however the ground under the stage was perfectly dry. We decided to move the stage, and perform on the ground where the stage had been. The Beijing team is not used to performing on the ground. We generally have carpets to perform on. However the Beijing team is still the Beijing team. We got together and changed the entire perfomance to fit the circumstances in less than 5 minutes. The performance was a great success. We performed very far away from the spectators of the race, but we could still hear the crowd cheering for us. I want to thank everyone who supported us. Thank you so much. I miss Chaoyang.
