Can You Use Water And Laundery Detergent To Wash The Carpet With A Carpet Cleaner?

Instead of using those expensive bottles of liquid carpet cleaner, can I just use water and laundery detergent (like Tide)? I’m going to rent one of those carpet cleaning machines from the local grocery store.

A while back i bought some high dollar rugs for the bathroom. They were yellow and stained the floors yellow. Well since then we have moved and now have nicer tiled floors and i dont want to stain the floors this time. the rugs are different and green. I have never had any bathroom rugs stain floors and i want to know how to prevent this from happening. If you have any suggestions PLEASE let me know. THANKS!!

My batroom rugs have become quite dirty…earlier I used to wash it by hand but it is very tedious.I know it can be washed in a machine using a gentle cycle.My washing machine is a very simple one…the ones that usually comes with apartments.I have put the settings to cold/cold but am not sure which cycle to choose…the cottons (light/normal/heavy/extra heavy) or the wrinkle free (extra light/light/normal/heavy)
Can anybody tell me about it…??

How Would You Wash Rugs If You Don’t Have A Carpet Cleaner?

I don’t have one of those vacum things that shampoo rugs,nor can I afford someone to come in and do it, so how would I go about washing these?
should I just take them outside and rinse them down with a hose?
If I did this how long would it take for them to dry?
one rug is a big one we put in the middle of the living room.
the others are the kinds that have some rubber like stuff on the underside but carpet on the top.
any suggestions?
